Mr. Richard Altmans graduated with honours from the Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen (UIA). In 1983 and together with Mr. Gilkens, he founded Associatie Gilkens & Panis, an association that expanded to become the current Altmans cvba.

He specialises in commercial and economic law, more precisely in mergers and takeovers, trade disputes, financial law and intellectual property rights. He is also a recognised mediator in civil and corporate cases.

Mr. Richard Altmans has extensive experience in processing disputes before the Courts of First Instance and the Commercial Court.

For many years, he has also functioned as deputy Justice of the Peace in the district of Genk.

The family-based relationship of Mr. Richard with the Ebema group has certainly influenced the orientation of the office towards construction law. Mr. Panis was also a director of KRC Genk for 13 years and the links between Altmans Chambers and the club are still very significant.

His current activities focus on advising, mediating and providing guidance and he is successful in defusing almost all of the conflict situations put before him and realising a solution outside the legal context. If he is unsuccessful in this, he has a team of specialised lawyers ready to go before the courts.

As well as his professional activities, he also finds time for a number of hobbies, including Historic Rally events, gardening and jogging.
